Montana Pack Llama Rentals

Madison River Pack Llamas is proud to offer a limited amount of pack llama rentals in Montana. Specifically we are located in South West Montana. If you are looking to go on a summer adventure with friends and family or a fall hunting trip having pack llamas to pack your gear is the best way to experience the mountains. Having pack llamas with you is a wonderful experience. The obvious advantage is that they can carry all your backcountry gear! There are so many additional amazing benefits to having them as a companion in the mountains though. It is quite common that pack llamas will see any wildlife long before we humans will, if you pay attention to where the llamas are looking often you can see they are looking at deer, elk, birds, bears or even mountain goats way up on a cliff! The other great benefit to having pack llamas in your camp is that they are hyper alert and will alarm call if anything was to wander into your camp at night. The llama alarm call often is very loud and will scare off any animal that did happen to wander in.

For our pack llama rentals we require a minimum of 2 llamas to be rented in the summer and 3 llamas in the fall hunting season, however people often will rent 4, 5 or 6 so they can have enough to pack all the gear for their whole group. Renting the pack llamas is quite simple, you can reserve them ahead of time, then when you come to pick them up we do a relatively quick “how to pack with llamas” course with you that takes about 2 hours. From there you are off on your adventure!
